How Do I order Tropibed™? - You can call us on the number, fill out the contact form for us to call you back, send us an email or go to, Amazon or eBay

What is Tropibed™? - Tropibed™ is manufactured from coco peat which is a by-product from the global demand for coconut products from the food and pharmaceutical industries. Coco peat is a 100% natural and sustainable product. Tropibed™ literally grows on trees, with no damage to the tree during the harvesting process; coconuts typically fruit around four times per year. Tropibed™ gives animals a natural product with natural scents and colours.

Why use Tropibed™? - Tropibeds’ benefits are abundant for all animals. Tropibed™ is a completely homogenous material, composed of millions of capillary micro-sponges, which provide a cushiony comfortable bed, locked-in moisture and odours while keeping animals clean. Other benefits include constant supply of quality sustainable bedding material available despite a possible shortage of traditional materials, being used to fuel the UK biomass power generation boom. With Tropibed™ you will be mucking out less wasted bedding, while getting more volume per a bale compared to other bedding materials. The product’s darker colour is widely believed to be preferred by horses, for example in comparison to the bright colour of wood shavings.

How to use? - Animal and pet owners all like to bed their animals in different ways, for pets and horses we suggest a good depth in relation to animal size, then to keep your Tropibed™ in top condition, spot pick the muck out using gloved hands or close tined shavings fork. Rake through wet patches and top up if necessary.

How to dispose? – The best way to dispose of your used Tropibed™ is to store in a muck heap and leave to compost. The end product of this process can then be spread on land and gardens as a natural soil conditioner, locking in nutrients within the millions of capillary micro-sponges which are slowly released over time therefore is better utilised by plants, instead of being lost over a short period. For pet owners, used Tropibed™ can be disposed of in council green waste bins for composting or in general waste bins as it will simply break down if sent to landfill. Tropibed™ packaging is recyclable where facilities exist.

Uniform in texture, Tropibed™ is completely homogenous material, composed of millions of capillary micro-sponges that absorb and retain both moisture and odours.

I was sceptical at first when asked to try this new bedding as I’ve always used shavings or straw. I choose the 2 dirtiest/wettest to try it on, both piebald geldings. The bedding is made from shredded coconut husks so is like coffee grounds in texture and is quite dark. It is really easy to put down and made a good bed that was soft. The first thing that I noticed is it has no smell and even when taking a wet patch out of the bed it still had no odour, it appeared to have neutralised the ammonia smell. When mucking out nothing was wasted, literally only the droppings and any wet patches were removed. One horse I trialled it on needs to have his wet taken out every other day but I was taking a smaller amount out and less frequently. This also meant that our muck trailer wasn’t emptied as often. It didn’t stain either horse, both of which have white legs and quite a lot of white on their bodies. Overall I thought it was good value and made a good bed but it does take a bit of getting used to as it is a quite unusual bedding material. - Rachel Gill BHSII

In the past I have use many different types of bedding for my poultry, including straw, shavings, and other wood products. I find the best product I have used is Tropibed. Tropibed provides my poultry with good hygiene as it is very absorbent and therefore keeps their feet clean and dry, and the eggs are also kept clean. I also like the fact that mould does not grow on Tropibed, unlike wood derived products that I have tried in the past. Altogether Tropibed is an excellent animal bedding product. - Joan Platt, Yarlbank Poultry

I have used Tropibed on my show horses for the past two months. This product keeps my horses clean, dry, and comfortable in their stable. The product is quick and easy to muck out, and my muck heap has reduced in size. I would highly recommend this product. -
Tamara Atkinson (Green Garth Saddlery)

After trying Tropibed on one of our horses I was very impressed. I found it to be a clean, dust free, easy to use bedding with very little waste compared to other forms of bedding. As it is very absorbent it provides a dry and hygienic surface which is comfortable and soft for the horse under foot and while lying down.

Overall I feel that Tropibed is and excellent bedding material for horses and have no hesitation in recommending it.
Brett Newsham DipWCF - Registered Farrier

I have found that Tropibed ™is a cost effective bedding. There is next to no waste when mucking out so not only does it last it also reduced the size of my muck heap.

Even with my messiest horse Tropibed ™was absorbent keeping the bed much dryer and there was very little if no ammonia smell.
Lauren Wood (Bhsai)
